Eat This, Not That

Diabetes is a very common disease and has in recent times become very prevalent. A recent Lancet report revealed that more than 100 million people in India are diabetic. Among them, at least 15 percent of them are living with pre-diabetes. Diabetes happens as a result of very poor diet and lifestyle. Poor diet can mess up your body's ability to control blood glucose levels from rising and therefore leading to various symptoms. But, this is a curable disease especially at its initial stage. You simply have to know what to eat and what not to eat and take your medications in a timely manner.

Protein

Protein, another must have food source if you are suffering from type-diabetes. Protein-rich foods like eggs, chicken, fish, etc . contain very less fat and carbohydrates. It only contains healthy fats which help control blood glucose levels and may even improve insulin sensitivity.

Dairy Products

Dairy products like milk, paneer and good quality cheese are recommended if you are diabetic. Dairy products will help you curb cravings of junk foods or carbs and keep your blood glucose maintained.

Avoid Sugar And Salt

A diabetic patient is strictly asked to avoid one particular food in order to prevent a blood glucose spike and that is artificial sugar. Any type of artificial sweetener will increase blood glucose levels because your body does not produce enough insulin to balance it out Experts say that you must also avoid eating sodium.
