Babies are given supplement which contains proteins and minerals while they are in the hospital.
To carry out the study, the team of researchers gave supplements to 32 mothers and their babies for around 8 weeks to examine the effects.
The supplements can be called as breast milk fortifier and are combined with mom's breast milk and with the help of feeding tubes they are given to the babies.
The supplements can be stooped when your premature baby becomes healthy, achieves that ideal weight and are sent home.
The study revealed that the average weight of babies was 1.3kg at birth, and most of them were born at about 30 weeks of pregnancy. But, babies weighed 2.5kg on average once they were discharged for the hospital and went back home. (With inputs from IANS).
