They Cry

They cry: This might break your heart, but babies do silently cry. Digital ultrasounds taken during the later stages of the third trimester showed that babies open their mouth, shed tears, quiver their lips, and gasp irregularly, displaying signs of crying. They Memorise

They memorise: A study by the University of Helsinki showed that babies who listened to particular songs or rhymes in the womb showed better brain activity through ECGs when heard the same songs and verses after the birth. This is why talking to your baby-bump really makes sense.

They Develop Tastes

They develop tastes: A study published in Pediatrics mentions that women who had more carrots during their third trimester had babies who love to eat the vegetable more than the ones whose mothers didn’t eat carrots. They React To Stress

They react to stress: There is a reason why mothers are asked to relax and stay calm during pregnancy. Two separate studies done by Lancaster and Durham universities showed that babies, in response to negative emotions and stress of the mother, would get agitated and cover their faces with their left hand. They Express

They express: Studies from Durham and Lancaster also showed that babies as early as 24 weeks could show two-dimensional expressions like a smile, and as they progressed in 36 week they could also twitch their eyebrows.
