If you cringe at the sight of a boy with anything remotely pink, then brace yourself -- what you are about to read will blow your mind. Sociologist Elizabeth Sweet from California State University, Sacramento, US says that selecting your children's toys based on gender only fuels stereotypes. In simple words, it does not define the machosim of your son or the girliness of your daughter. When it comes to children, doing anything based on gender makes no sense, especially things listed in the slideshow.

Blocks

Girls cannot be engineers? Why should girls be limited to play with stuffed animals, dolls and glittery, blingy things? Give a child, ANY child, a bag full of blocks and tools and they'll play happily.

My daughter's birthday costume was a pair of shorts, t-shirt and a bowtie! She picked it out herself. By letting your kid dress the way they want, you are giving them the freedom to choose and express their personality.
