If you are a parent, you know that children say no a lot. Like for everything. From brushing their teeth to finishing homework on time. While you need to get your way around your child's Nos, there are times when you should listen to their no and support them.

Exchanging pleasantries is common manners, but you need not force your child. As far as it is to do with 'hello, good morning, thank you' etc. its okay, but do not force your child to shake hands with someone or hug people. Do not make your child feel uncomfortable by not respecting her no.

My daughter hates wearing frocks and skirts, basically anything girly and blingy. Trying to make her wear a frock ends in tears and tantrums. So I have stopped. After a thorough reality check, I realised I was simply trying to teach her to conform and abide by what is considered acceptable. So I am respecting her NO, will you?
