It is fun to see you child graduate from the bottle to the bowl. Experimenting with foods, texture and colour is a whole new ball game. If you are a new mum and wondering how to get started with weaning, here are the options for you. However, try one food at a time and don't rush.

Pureed Fruits

Pureed fruits: After a week, try pureed fruits. Boil or steam the fruits and mash them. You can do it with your hand or use a blender. However, don't try to force feed; just two spoonfuls at a time will do the trick.

Mashed Vegetables

Mashed vegetables: Boil the non-gassy vegetables like carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green peas and mash them well. Offer your child this preparation from seventh month onwards. Avoid giving yam, bitter gourd, beans until your child turns one.

Boiled Eggs

Boiled eggs: Try eggs once your child turns nine months old. Break it into small pieces so it is easy for your child to nibble. Some mothers prefer to start on non-vegetarian food after a year. The choice is yours.
