'Eat' Water In Pregnancy

Many women have trouble keeping food and water down during pregnancy, owing to extreme nausea. But, since they have to nourish themselves and the baby growing inside, they must look for dietary alternatives that do not cause nausea and vomiting. It is important for mothers-to-be to stay hydrated during pregnancy, as dehydration can lead to loss of essential fluids that can be fatal for the baby. According to Dr Shalini Verma, an obstetrician and gynecologist, the secret to staying hydrated during pregnancy if you cannot tolerate water lies in 'eating' the water.

Ways To 'eat' Water

Juicy Fruits With Water Quotient

According to Dr Verma, tomatoes has 94 per cent water, watermelon and strawberries have 92 per cent water, and oranges and raspberries have 87 per cent water in them. Consider eating these fruits every day.

Electrolyte-rich Foods

The doctor said that it is also important for pregnant women to eat electrolyte-rich foods on a daily basis, like yogurt, fresh coconut water, bananas, soups and broths, and sweet potatoes.
