National Youth Day

The government of India recognizes that the health situation of adolescents (aged between 10 and 19 years) is a key determinant of the country’s overall health, mortality, morbidity and population growth scenario. Healthy adolescents are an important resource for ensuring sustainable growth and achieving socio-economic development. There are 253 million adolescents in India, the largest adolescent population in the world. Recognizing the importance of ensuring holistic development of this large number of adolescents, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had launched Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) in 2014, with special focus on marginalized and undeserved groups. Did you know that adolescents are susceptible to several preventable and treatable health problems. On the occasion of National Youth Day, which is celebrated every year in India on 12th January, we would like to highlight some of the health issues common among adolescents.

Avoiding Alcohol And Tobacco Is Crucial

A low-fat, high-fibre diet with small, frequent meals can ease digestion and reduce pain. Medications like pain relievers and nerve blocks can help control pain. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary. Taking pancreatic enzyme supplements with meals can help your body digest food properly and prevent malnutrition. If chronic pancreatitis damages your insulin-producing cells, you may need insulin therapy to manage diabetes.
