What Is Hypertension?
Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is a serious health condition which is marked by an increase in the pressure at which the blood is flowing within the arteries. Often called the 'silent killer' because it shows no early symptoms, blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) as systolic (top number) and diastolic (bottom number) pressures. A normal reading is around 120/80 mmHg.
