Every man wants big, broad shoulders. Unfortunately, just going to the gym and doing a few shoulder exercises may not be enough. You must know the following things if you want those shoulders-to-die-for.
Your shoulder is not one muscle, you need to work the muscles out separately: The shoulder is made up of three muscles that are collectively called the deltoids (anterior, medial and posterior deltoids). While some exercises will target all three muscles at once, others will work on each of them separately.
Start with the most difficult exercise: It’s ideal that you start with the most challenging exercise because you usually put the maximum effort in the beginning. Starting with a compound exercise like barbell overhead press is a good idea. Also, keep the machine weights for later as they don't require the same amount of balancing that free weights do.
Fasting doesn't mean skipping physical activity. Regular exercise, even during Navratri, is essential for a healthy heart. Gentle activities like yoga or brisk walking can help maintain your cardiovascular fitness.
Don’t ignore injury: Shoulder injuries can worsen quickly. Therefore you shouldn’t ignore minor niggles that may lead to major ailments. Shift to lower weights, and see what exercises you are comfortable doing. Another good option is to take a little time off training to allow your muscles to heal.
Keep changing your routine: Don’t do the same set of shoulder exercises for months. Ideally, you should change your routine every 6-8 weeks, to ensure that your muscles are constantly shocked into action so that they grow continuously.
