It started with a simple question – who is the fittest man in India? A general discussion threw up a thousand or so names so we decided to whittle the list down to India’s top 50 fit men. So we present to you, TheHealthSite.com’s comprehensive list of the fittest men in India from every sphere – sports, business, films and TV. Editor’s Note – This is a list in which we’ve listed out the fittest men in our opinion in alphabetical order. It’s up to you, dear readers to choose who you consider the fittest of them all i.e. don’t forget to take the poll.

Deepesh Bhatt

A former national level athlete who represented the state at swimming and water polo, Bhatt is the owner and founder of India’s first CrossFit gym. He chanced upon Cross Fit when he was a personal trainer in Melbourne and that’s when he took to CrossFit. Bhatt has one of the most naturally fit physiques we’ve ever seen and curiously, he even had a cameo in Kal Ho Na Ho, playing the guy called Frankie aka Ram Dayal.

Arguably, one of India’s most well-known non-cricketing sportsman, Paes has won an astonishing eight doubles and six mixed doubles Grand Slam titles. In fact, he also won a bronze at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics where he lost to gold medallist Andre Agassi and last year by winning the US Open 2013 became the oldest male to pick up a Grand Slam award.

Famous for playing Lord Shiva in the TV show Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev, it’s hard to believe that Raina was once an obese 107kg youngster. He lost all that weight to participate in Grasim’s Mr India contest where he was among the top five contestants. A pro-wrestler who was also seen in Big Boss, he suffered from arthritis as a child which left him wheelchair-bound but he didn’t let that keep him down. He managed to overcome the ailment with lots of physiotherapy and willpower. Sushil Kumar is one of India’s top boxers who won a bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and silver at the 2012 London Olympics, which made him the first Indian to win back-to-back Olympic medals. One of the fittest guys in B-town, Vidyut once confessed that he owned his fit body to kalaripayattu, an ancient Indian martial arts technique that he had been practising since he was young. His training regime includes jiu jitsu, parkour and barely spends time in the gym. The Olympics is a competition where the world\'s fittest people compete for glory, and boxers usually have to be fitter than most other athletes. Winning a bronze medal there is proof enough of his fitness. Singh trains for 3-4 hours a day, and goes up to 6-7 hours when a competition is approaching. 22-year-old Virdhawal Khade is India’s next great Olympic hope and has represented India in the Beijing Olympics in the 50, 100 and 200m Freestyle events at the Beijing Olympics 2008. He set an Indian national record in the 100m Freestyle event when he won his unseeded heat but failed to qualify for the semi-finals for the event. He created history on 16 November 2010 when he won a medal after 24 years for India in swimming in the 50m butterfly category at the 2010 Asian games. He currently holds the national records for the 50, 100, 200 and 400m Freestyle events, the 50m Butterfly event and we really think there’s more to come from this talented youngster.

The industrialist scion is very dedicated to his fitness regime and is quite well-known in the bodybuilding circuit. He trains for an hour every day, lifting weights on four and doing cardio on the other two. He also likes power yoga, walking, martial arts and even weight training.
