Lose weight gradually: The skin loses its elasticity in case of rapid weight loss due to loss of collagen fibres in the dermis (which is the top most layer of the skin). So avoid fad diets that make your weight go quickly down at any cost.
Stretch every day: Do light stretching exercises as a part of your daily workout routine. Stretching can improve your skin elasticity and circulation and thus prevent stretch marks.
Eat plenty of vitamin A, C and E rich foods: Load up on foods rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E. While vitamin A helps in the repair of skin tissue, vitamin C helps in the production of collagen, and vitamin E keeps the skin membranes intact.
Drink eight glass of water in a day: Drink plenty of water and keep yourself well hydrated. Dehydration can cause dry skin, reducing the elasticity of the skin and making it prone to stretch marks.
Use over the counter cream or lotion: You can try using an over the counter cream or lotion to increase collagen production and prevent stretch marks. You can also ask your dermatologist for some prescription retinoid creams to prevent stretch marks.
