While the daily recommended dose of salt is 2400 mg of sodium, most of us eat way more than that. In fact, every day products like cheese, pickles and soy sauce are considered to be loaded with excess salt. So if you are advised to limit your intake of salt, say no to these five foods, says Dr Tejender Kaur Sarna, Nutritionist and Lifestyle Coach.

Cheese

Cheese: Yes, another favourite ingredient that enhances the flavour of pastas, lasagna or just plain bread, is also high in sodium content. Around 1800 mg of sodium is present in per 100 gm of edible portion of cheese. So count your calories and sodium before you eat one!

Canned Vegetables

Canned vegetables: As they come handy when you are pressed for time, canned vegetables are becoming quite popular. However, to increase the shelf life of the vegetables, salt is added as a preservative. With around 800 mg of sodium present in 100 gm of canned vegetables, you are undoubtedly eating too much salt.

Pickle

Pickles: Be it plain dal-rice or parathas, serving with a spoonful of pickle just enhances its overall taste and flavour. But including pickles in every meal might unknowingly increase your intake of salt as 100 gm of pickle contains around 1200 mg (half the recommended dietary allowance of sodium for the day).  Also Read - Can early treatment stop hair loss completely?
