Have you been wearing the same sports bra and running shoes for the last two years? It could be time you get new ones. Here’s when you should exactly toss your workout gear.
Sports bra: Discard the sports bra when you start to experience chafing or if your bra rides up when you raise your arms. A sports bra will not last more than a year.
Compression garments: If it is getting easier to slide the compression garments on, it is time to toss them out. Also, get new ones if you notice that the fibre is coming out of the material. Compression garments usually last for six months to a year.
Sports shoes: If you are a regular runner, you might need to get a new pair of shoes every six months. Your shoes are likely to wear out after you have completed 500 miles of running.
Moisture-wicking tops: Most moisture-wicking tops are chemically treated and are good only up to 20-25 washes. They can last anywhere from six months to a year.
Swimsuit: You may see tiny fibres popping out and faded spots in your swimsuit in just six months. That's when you should get a new one. A swimsuit typically lasts for six months or up to two years if you don't use it regularly.
