One should be physically fit in order to lead a healthy life. But, do you know that you may be prone to knee pain or other conditions like muscle pull, if you do strenuous without any proper guidance?
Dr Pramod Bhor, Orthopedist and Joint Replacement Surgeon, Hiranandani Hospital Vashi- A Fortis Network Hospital, tells you about the precautions you should take while exercising.
Dr Pramod Bhor says, “Activities that cause knee pain are aerobics, zumba, squatting exercises with weights and excessive running without training.”
This falls in patients with knee arthritis and is caused due to muscle weakness, unstable posture, and decreased proprioception.
Strenuous exercising can cause wear and tear of the cartilage, ligament and meniscal injuries.
Adequate rest, regular hot fermentation and wearing braces can be beneficial.
Perform all exercises at a slow or medium pace and then gradually increase the intensity, under your trainer’s guidance. Adopt proper workout techniques and start a new regime only after consulting your doctor and gym trainer.
“Use western toilet, avoid sitting cross-legged and squatting. Also, strengthen your hamstring muscles to avoid knee pain,” says Dr Pramod Bhor.
