There are a number of foods that can help you lose weight. Many of these, when added to teas can help burn fat, boost metabolism, reduce risk of high cholesterol, keep blood sugar in check and thus help maintain weight by keeping obesity away. Here are some simple teas that you must drink regularly if you want to see weight loss.
White tea: White tea requires minimal processing and hence retains more nutrients than green or black tea. It is rich in antioxidants that help flush toxins from the body. The compounds present in white tea burn fat. Boil 1 tsp white leaves, ½ teaspoon ginger powder and few drops of lemon juice in a glass of water. Drink this tea regularly for 15 days if you want promising results.
Sea buckthorn tea: Sea buckthorn is known for its weight loss properties. It is also known to lower total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations in the liver.
Hibiscus tea: A study has shown that drinking hibiscus tea for 12 weeks helped in reducing body weight, BMI, body fat and waist-to-hip ratio. Hibiscus helps the body metabolise fats and it reduces the growth of fat cells in the body.
Green tea: The compound epigallocatechin (EGCG) boosts your metabolic rate and reduces your appetite. Green tea creates heat in the body in turn increasing your metabolic rate. Two to four cups of green tea burns 70 to 80 calories per day, as it increases metabolism and helps you exercise longer with more endurance.
Chamomile tea: It helps the digestive system by giving It relief from problems like flatulence, diarrhoea, indigestion and nausea. Chamomile tea stimulates gastric secretions that break down fat and cholesterol. It also fights against high fat diet-induced obesity.
