Sugary drinks increase your risks of tooth decay and cavities. The more a person drinks them the more your teeth might be getting damaged. Bacteria’s present in the mouth feed on sugar causing decays and cavities.
Sticky foods are one of the major reasons people get tooth cavities and decay. It is very difficult to get them out of the teeth. If you eat a lot of dry fruits or candies, you might be at a risk of cavities. Make sure you wash your mouth properly especially after eating candies because the bacteria’s in the mouth are more attracted to sugary foods and drinks.
Certain foods can also weaken the enamel in your teeth. Foods such as tomatoes, citrus fruits and vinegar are highly acidic in nature and can rode the enamel and cause decay. How to avoid this? After eating these foods, make sure to rinse your moth properly with water. Water helps neutralize the acid that remains in the teeth and thus stops it from impacting the enamel.
Carbohydrates like bread and chips also cause tooth decay. Foods like these often remain stuck in our teeth and the bacteria in the mouth feed on them. This causes the buildup of cavities and plaques. So, how can you avoid the risk of cavities and plaques in your teeth? Always brush and floss after eating carbohydrate rich foods. Another way to keep your dental health intact is by eating healthier carbohydrates such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains.
