Yoga For Better Sleep

To rest properly, you need to unwind, and yoga can be your ticket to a restful sleep. If you have trouble falling asleep, perform these yoga poses recommended by yoga expert Sunaina Rekhi before you hit the sack. They will calm your mind, lower your stress levels and release tension from your body so that you can wake up fresh the next morning.

Balasana

Balasana or the child’s pose is a great pose to try before bed. It opens up your hips and eases tension from the body. You can sit on top of a pillow to make the pose a bit more relaxing.

Supta-baddha-konasana

Supta baddha konasana or reclining butterfly pose can immediately set your body in rest mode and help you relax. Observe your breath while you perform the pose. Putting a folded blanket under each knee can help you relax well.

Shavasana

Shavasana or the corpse pose is the quintessential resting pose. When you are in the pose, take your attention to your body and focus on your breath. Focussing on your breath will take your mind off from what is causing restlessness and stress.
