Bronchitis: The antibacterial properties of this spice help in keeping bacteria, that cause bronchitis or asthma, at bay as published in the Journal of Medicinal Food. Being an expectorant, it helps recede the cough and provide relief. Sipping star anise tea or star anise flavoured milk is beneficial.

Joint Pain

Rheumatism: Star anise oil is massaged on joints for relief from lower back or joint pain. It is found to be effective against rheumatism too. Star anise oil is available easily or it can be prepared by adding star anise powder to hot olive or coconut oil and allowed to steep.



Lactation: According to Chinese traditional medicine practices, star anise tea or milk is given to new mothers to improve lactation and boost immunity.
