Having yellow teeth is normal, as with age your white teeth tends to turn yellow and, in some cases, this can be inevitable. As you grow old, dentin, a tissue under the enamel of your teeth comes out and makes your teeth look more yellow. Intake of food items such as blueberries, beetroot, red wine and coffee can change the colour of your teeth. Although, in some cases, brushing frequently, whitening strips and activated charcoal can help you to get rid of yellow teeth, these techniques are backed by various dentists. You may get yellow teeth due to several medicines, excess fluoride, tooth fillings and health conditions such as pregnancy, and treatment for cancer can also cause your teeth to turn yellow. Apart from these dental remedies, you can also opt for some natural tricks that can help you in whitening your teeth. Here are some natural remedies to get rid of your yellow teeth.
Brush your teeth: The first thing to do to tackle yellow teeth, is to brush your teeth after the intake of food items which can make your teeth turn yellow. Dentists recommend that you should brush your teeth twice in a day in circular motion to prevent your gums from getting damaged.
Lemon peel: Lemon peels contains compound d-limonene that can help you to whiten your teeth. Many people credit rubbing lemon, orange or banana peels on teeth to make them whiter. You should gently rub fruit peels on your teeth for around two minutes and rinse out your mouth completely afterwards to get the desired outcome.
Coconut oil pulling: A study published in the Nigerian Medical Journal, coconut oil pulling can eliminate the plaque and bacteria from your mouth, leading to whiter teeth. Take 1 to 2 teaspoons of coconut oil in your mouth for 10 to 30 minutes but do not swallow the oil as it contains toxins and your mouth’s bacteria. Rinse your mouth with and brush your teeth to stop discoloration.
Apple cider vinegar: You can create a mouthwash by mixing 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and 6 ounces of water and use it for 30 seconds before you rinse your mouth with water. Studies have suggested that apple cider vinegar can have a bleaching effect on cow teeth. However, in humans, excess amount can hamper the hardness of teeth. Opt for this technique after consulting with your dentist.
