Animal Protein

.) Decrease your animal protein intake: Animal protein reduces the chemical called citrate in your urine which is responsible for preventing the formation of kidney stones. Red meat, pork, fish, chicken and eggs increase the levels of uric acid your body produces. Calcium

.) Maintain your calcium and vitamin D levels: Low calcium can lean high oxalate levels in your body. Consume foods rich in calcium rather than depending on calcium supplements as they also lead to stone formation in your kidneys. Mil, yoghurt, cottage cheese, other types of cheeses are good sources of calcium. Vegetarian sources include legumes, calcium-set tofu, dark green vegetables, nuts, seeds and blackstrap molasses. Also keep a check on your vitamin D levels as it helps to absorb the calcium flowing in your body.

.) Reduce you salt intake: Salt water results in water retention in your body and leads to reduction in the amount of urine you expel. Excess of sodium in your diet can cause over-excretion of calcium that results in oxalate to bind. This results in formation of oxalate crystals. So, the next time you buy things check the amount of sodium it contains and limit the salt you sprinkle on your food.

.) Just drink as much water as you can: Drinking plenty of fluids is the rule of thumb to prevent kidney stones formation in your body. The fluids help to prevent the aggregation of minerals and salts in your system. Drink at least 12 glasses of water daily.
