Burning sensation: If your tongue burns and stings, the hormonal changes in your body during menopause could be to blame. However, you can also experience a burning sensation if you develop an allergy to particular toothpaste.

Hills and valleys: A tongue that looks like a bumpy terrain is a very common condition. A geographic tongue could have to do with your taste buds that randomly shrink away. While it is harmless, it can become painful, and the doctor will be able to suggest an anti-inflammatory steroid paste.

Black, hairy tongue: You do not have the best oral hygiene if you notice a black or hairy tongue. Typically a dark and hairy tongue is a result of smoking, excessive intake of coffee and a poor dental hygiene. Quitting tobacco use and brushing and scraping your tongue is all you need to do away with this.
