The red patches and chapped skin anywhere on your body, especially knees and elbows could be psoriasis. Several factors such as environment, genetics and the immune system are responsible for triggering this condition. Although it is difficult to treat, there are certain home remedies that offer relief from scaly and itchy skin. Dr Navin Taneja, director of the National Skin Centre, gives you some home remedies to tackle the condition effectively.


Oatmeal Spa

Sea Salt

Dead Sea Salts: Add Dead Sea salts to lukewarm water and bathe with this water. You can also make a foot or hand soak with dead sea salts. It helps to remove scales and eases itching. Do not forget to apply moisturiser once you are done with your bath.


Banana Skin

Banana peel: Banana peel will soothe your skin and heal rashes. Rub the inner area of the peel on your lesions.


Natural Bath Salt

Baking Soda and water: Mix one tablespoon of baking soda and four teaspoons of water. Apply this with cotton or cloth to the affected area. Leave it on until it dries and falls off.
