When somebody suffers from hypertension or high BP, they are supposed to take care of what they eat. While a lot is spoken about what all they should consume, here is a list of 7 food items they must avoid.
Pickles: Yes, we know they're extremely enticing for your taste buds. But you must strictly avoid them if you suffer from hypertension. This is because they generally contain a high amount of sodium.
Salty foods: Increase your salt intake to raise your blood pressure levels. You can get enough salt from eating canned soup, smoked fish, cottage cheese, pickled items, and olives. Olives are also rich in vitamin E, iron and copper.
Sugar: Consuming too much sugar is directly associated with high blood pressure.
Alcohol: It narrows your arteries and is bad for your overall heart health. It is directly linked to high blood pressure.
Caffeine: Caffeine is directly linked to increase in blood pressure. This is because caffeine is said to block a hormone that helps in keeping your arteries widened.
Canned foods: Tomato sauces, canned soups etc must be avoided as they have high salt content.
