Living with diabetes is not easy, more so when every little thing you eat can have a direct effect on your blood sugar level. Monitoring your blood sugar every moment of the day is tiring and tedious, and yes one tends to fail to do the right things all the time. Sometimes even the healthiest of foods can make your blood sugar go haywire. Here are some foods that you should avoid to keep a check on your blood sugar levels.

Potatoes

Potatoes: Of course it is a vegetable and a good source of carbohydrate. But it is not the right choice for diabetics. Potatoes are high on the glycemic index; they get absorbed into the blood stream very fast, altering the blood sugar level. In fact, white boiled potatoes have a glycemic index of 82, and that of mashed potatoes is 87. Raisins

Raisins: No they aren’t a healthy option over candies for diabetics. The reason being, during dehydration process of grapes, the natural sugar in the fruit gets concentrated which spikes blood sugar levels when consumed.

Yoghurt

Sugar and yogurt scrub: All you have to do is mix one tablespoon of honey and yogurt together. Apply it on your face and leave for 15 minutes. Use sugar to scrub off the mask when the pack is dried out. Make sure you scrub gently to avoid skin irritation. Apply toner and moisturiser after you wash it off.

Melons

Melons: They are high in sugar content, a reason you should be away from melons if your blood sugar is not in control.

Energy Bars

Energy bars: If you thought they are healthy, know that it is a marketing gimmick. Energy bars are never the best replacement of sweets and chocolates. With artificial sweeteners, they are also high in carbohydrate content and fat, the reason why you feel all that pepped up after having them, but they are detrimental to your blood sugar levels.
