People tend to lose important documents of life during floods. Keep them safe in plastic folders.
Try to keep a radio around so that you get all the vital information in case of emergencies like emergency help line no. etc.
Leave the low lying areas as soon as possible as they tend to fill with water faster.
Try to remain away from the water as much as possible.
Refrain yourself from using any electronic items.
You may be at the risk of being affected by dangerous infection or diseases.
This way you might lower the chances of a short circuit or gas leak.
Cut down the possibilities of contracting water borne diseases by drinking boiled water.
You don't know what danger is hiding in that water. Watch your step or use a stick to walk.
Watch for fallen naked wires and poles to save your self from electrocution. Water is a good conductor of electricity.
