Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes: If you have a habit of regularly rubbing your eyes or touching them, it will only make you more prone to developing a stye because of the germs or bacteria your eyes could come in contact with. Consciously, try to keep your hands away from your eyes. Get your eyes checked: If you have noticed your child constantly rubbing his eyes, it could be because of blurred vision and not wearing specs. In that case, make sure to immediately address the uncorrected eye number by visiting your ophthalmologist before he develops a stye. A common cause of styes is constantly rubbing one’s eyes due to blurred vision.

Don’t let stress get to you: Students tend to suffer from styes around the time their exams begin due to high stress levels. Even adults are prone to styes due to stress, so practice meditation or any other relaxation techniques like exercising or picking up a new hobby to keep your stress levels under check.

Use a warm compress: If are prone to irritation or swelling around your eyelids, use a warm compress once a week every month for at least five minutes in morning and night before going to bed to prevent the accumulation of oil or dirt on the eyelids.
