Navratri

Navratri is, undoubtedly, a lot of fun. But the festival usually involves overcrowded places, dancing and fasting, which make you more susceptible to various health problems. Dr. Zamurrud Patel, Consultant Dietician, Global Hospital, Mumbai lists a few common problems people experience and how to avoid them.

Asthma: Firecrackers and the resulting dust are a signature of any Indian festival and Navratri is no exception. The dusty atmosphere can flare up your asthma and also irritate your eyes.

Cough-and-cold

Cold and Flu: When you are eating a lot of junk food, it tends to lower your immunity. Apart from this, when you are mingling with large crowds, you are more likely to catch an infection. Hence, make sure you eat a healthy diet and drink enough fluids.

6/6

Dehydration

Dehydration: Navratri involves a lot of dancing, and if you do not have the habit of drinking water regularly, you are bound to get dehydrated. One of the most obvious symptoms of dehydration is burning sensation while urinating and dark-coloured urine. Dehydration can also cause dizziness, headaches and loss of energy. So don't forget to drink enough water. Also Read - Digital dopamine loops: how social media rewires Gen Z brain chemistry
