Memory loss: Forgetting little things in one odd instance is common as you age but if your forgetfulness is very evident, then it is something you must worry about. This may include forgetting names, important dates or asking repetitive questions about the same thing.
Social withdrawal: This sign may go unseen as the person may be considered an introvert. But shying away from social gatherings, keeping away from hobbies or team work projects may also indicate Alzheimer’s.
Changes in mood: Do you feel upset or angry easily? Or minor issues depress you? Being suspicious of people, constant anxiety and restlessness and frequent mood changes are also early signs of Alzheimer’s.
Poor judgement: Simple tasks like day to day calculations, counting, planning for something, dressing up right for an occasion may all seem like a challenge. And if you have observed this more frequently, you must be alarmed.
Struggling to communicate: Do you find it difficult to speak to people as you are unable to call out things by their right name or understand what is being discussed? Being disoriented and lost in between a conversation can also mean that you need to speak to your doctor and check if it’s Alzheimer’s.
Changes in vision: Usually you’ll be confused between colours or won’t be able to judge distance correctly. This could mean having difficulty parking a car, or jumping over a puddle or trying to hold some support while travelling through public transport. These signs are different than those of a weak eyesight.
Confusion of place and time: You have arrived at a place and then you suddenly wonder how and why. Do you feel lost? Are you confused all the time and feel surrounded by strangers? Do not ignore these signs as early detection may help reverse the condition to some extent.
Hard to complete familiar task: Are you unable to drive to your work location if you have to take an alternate route? Or do you have to strugge to find the usual things in the shopping mart you visit every month? These are familiar tasks that you perform regularly and if these seem difficult, it is time you speak to your doctor.
Misplacing belongings: You try to keep things in their place but cannot recall when you look for it. You leave your phone on the kitchen counter and forget about it or keep your TV remote on the fridge and then are unable to think of the last time you saw it. This is also one of the common signs.
