Keeps the heart healthy: The same study that was conducted at the University of Western Australia also claimed that drinking tea lowers the risk of developing heart disease. The antioxidant content of tea is responsible for this effect. The researchers believed that if people start drinking tea regularly, their risk of heart disease would be reduced by 7-8%.

Controls blood pressure levels: Scientists at the University of Western Australia have found that drinking up to eight cups of tea a day lowers blood pressure. According to the scientists, if the study were extended to the general population, number of people with high blood pressure would be cut by 10%.

Treats alcohol-induced stomach ulcers: Black tea is known to boost immunity, but a study claimed that it can also help treat alcohol-induced stomach ulcers. Keeps ovarian cancer away: A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggested that drinking tea could confer protection against ovarian cancer. Women who drank two cups of tea a day had one-third reduced risk of developing ovarian cancer. This cancer-fighting property is also linked to the high flavonoid content.
