Most women diagnosed with the disease are 63-year-old or above. When the individual is young the body has the ability to repair these genetic mutations and therefore reducing the risk of developing ovarian cancer.

Genetics

Inherited genetic mutation: Inheriting genetic mutation at birth from your parents raises the risk of developing ovarian cancer. Genetic mutation carries BRCA1, BRCA2 and Lynch syndrome. Women with BRCA1 mutation have 44 per cent chances of developing the disease, women with BRCA2 mutation have 17 per cent chances of developing the disease and those with Lynch syndrome are at 6-8 per cent risk of having ovarian cancer.
