The relationship between humans' gut health and general well-being is a thin line. Research conducted by The Indian Dietetic Association (IDA), Mumbai Chapter, and Country Delight says that poor digestive health can lead to various lifestyle diseases (Diabetes, heart attacks, etc.).

The stomach and the immune system

The stomach, intestines, and colon constitute the gut, which contains trillions of microorganisms. A microbiome is a complex set of different types of bacteria and other organisms that coexist in a specific ratio and maintain the overall health of a human.

Dysbiosis leads to unpleasant health conditions

A kind of imbalance in the microbiome’s composition known as Dysbiosis occurs when harmful bacteria accumulate and the depletion of valuable bacteria. This situation can lead to several health issues, from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) to severe conditions like cancer.

Occurrence of diabetes with gut health

These developments can lead to diabetes. Additionally, a low-fibre diet and a diet high in animal fat can alter the microbiome composition, possibly leading to colorectal cancer. Spicy food can damage the lining of the stomach and intestines, resulting in heartburn and diarrhoea.

Better health is simplicity

People must also have a high-fibre diet with minimally processed food. Foods that are high in fibre include farm-fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes.

Fermented foods rich in probiotics

Many suitable types of probiotic yoghurt are available today that people can choose to maintain good stomach health. People should be cautious about choosing the right brands.
