Stay Safe During Festive Shopping

It’s festive season and the markets and malls are packed with shoppers. But what we all shouldn’t forget is that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet. Many people are still testing positive for coronavirus every day. In the India last 24 hours, India recorded 2,139 fresh COVID cases and 13 deaths related to the disease, as per the data statistics released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday morning. The previous day, the country logged 1,957 cases and 8 deaths. Currently, there are 26,292 active cases in the country. In the last 24 hours, a total of 2,64,216 COVID-19 tests being conducted across the country. Taking cognizance of the festive rush at markets, the WHO South-East Asia is running a campaign titled “The pandemic is still on. DoItAll” on Twitter to remind people to continue to take COVID-19 precautions. It has urged people to follow these safety tips when stepping out for festive shopping:

Wash/Sanitize Your Hands Regularly

Avoid staying for too long in crowded places. Self-isolate if you feel unwell, feverish, or have other influenza symptoms. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Eat healthy food for good sanitation and better immunity. Drink boiled water.

Try To Avoid Crowded Places

Some people may be carrying the COVID-19 virus without showing the symptoms. Hence, it is advisable to avoid crowded places while shopping.

Stay In Well-ventilated Places

The virus that causes COVID-19 can easily spread in poorly ventilated indoor settings where aerosols remain suspended in the air. So, avoid such places and when indoors, open windows if possible.
