Chillis enjoy mixed reviews among people worldwide. While some cannot resist it, others run away from it. Chillis come in many shapes and colours. Most of us associate them with the burning sensation they have in our mouths. The burning sensation can sometimes transcend into a painful feeling. As per reports, the burning sensation is mainly caused by a chemical called capsaicin, which is found in tiny glands in the chilli's placenta. When it comes to the decision that whether one must consume chilli or not, the opinions are mixed.

Act As Painkiller

Consuming chilli can cause an instantaneous adrenaline rush when you can see your eyes go watery and your pulse all high. As per studies, chilli is associated with the release of endorphins which are chemicals like opiates that act like painkillers. It might temporarily desensitize your pain receptors. Can Shorten The Time Of Sickness

Chilli is known to boost many vitamins and minerals in the body such as Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, and Vitamin A, and elements like copper (important for strong bones and healthy neurons) and potassium (reduces the risk of heart disease). It is also known to reduce the time of sickness.

Not Good For Everyone

However, chilli peppers are not meant for everyone. For people suffering from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), it can worsen symptoms and cause diarrhoea. Apart from the burning and painful sensation, it can cause abdominal pain and cramps. Some studies have associated chilli consumption with increased cancer risk.
