Breastmilk consists of millions of live cells. These live cells are made up of immune-boosting white blood cells, as well as stem cells. Why are they important? These live cells help organs develop and heal.

Breast milk also consists of proteins. There are more than 1000 proteins, that help the newborn baby to grow and develop healthy cells. These proteins also help in activating the baby's immune system and developing and protecting neurons in her brain.

Your breast milk is made up of essential amino acids. There are more than 20 of these compounds that make up the milk. Some of these are also called nucleotides, that increase at night-time.

There are over 200 complex sugars present in breast milk, these are called oligosaccharides. Oligosaccharides act as a prebiotic for the baby. They provide 'good bacteria' in the infant's gut. They also help in preventing infections from entering the baby's bloodstream and thus lower the risk of brain inflammation.

There are over 40 different types of enzymes that are present in breast milk. These help in speeding up the chemical reactions in the body. It also helps in aiding the baby's digestion and immune system of the infant.
