Being Obese Is More Dangerous For Men
Obesity (BMI of 30 and higher) can lead to a number of health problems including diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers. Men are more likely than women to develop these obesity-related diseases, according to newly published study from York University. Why obesity manifests differently in men and women? The researchers found striking differences in the behaviour of the endothelial cells that build blood vessels in the fatty tissue of male versus female mice. While the cells replicated faster in females, the cells in males displayed greater sensitivity to an inflammatory stimulus. A high prevalence of inflammation-associated processes was observed in the male mice. Based on their findings, the team suggested that the treatment of an obesity-related issue that is ideal for men may not be ideal for women and vice-versa. Here are 5 effective ways to help you fight obesity.
