Fungal toenail infection and smelly feet are common during monsoons and can occur when your feet come in contact with dirty rain water. Follow these tips to maintain healthy feet in the rainy season.
Make sure that you keep your nails trimmed using with sanitised nail cutters so that dirt does not enter them. Use a nail file to file any sharp edges.
Wear proper fitted shoes. Avoid wearing shoes that are too big as it could result in the toenails getting jammed at the end of the shoe. Also, do not opt for pairs that are too narrow and cramp your toes.
Scrub your feet and clean them regularly. Also make sure that you thoroughly dry them after the wash as moisture tends to get trapped in between the toes.
Do not put on shoes from yesterday’s sweaty day. Invest in a few pairs of shoes and keep rotating them.
Soak your feet in salt and warm water to remove the dead skin cells and bacteria from the feet.
Try and wear breathable footwear so your feet can remain dry, which makes you less susceptible to toenail fungus.
