The last month of the year calls for celebrations and parties. So let your hair down in style, literally. Daniele Bauer, official hairstylist of TRESemmé, gives his expert tips for the party season.

Angelina Jolie: Daniele says, ‘The hassle-free hairdo is a party favourite as it can be done by women with different types of hair.’ For this, apply ample amount of gel or wax on the hair, and then create a side parting. Pull your hair into a mid-level ponytail, and smoothen it with gel. Twist the ponytail into a bun and wrap it tightly around the base of ponytail.

Side bun: Daniele explains, ‘To get the look, gather your hair onto one side of the head and pull it into a ponytail. Comb the hair back for more volume. Then, twist the ponytail all the way down to the tips and wrap this around the base of the ponytail. Pin the hair and use some hairspray for better hold.'

Bouffant ponytail: For this voluminous pony, Daniele suggests, ‘Split your hair into three sections - front, middle and back. Tie the back section into a rough ponytail. Pull the middle section into a bun and pin it. Add hairspray for the hold. Unfasten the rough ponytail and back-comb the front section of your hair over the bun.’ Tie this into a ponytail.

Side-swept curls or waves: Once you have your curls set, either by tongs or naturally, push them to either sides. Back-comb and pin the hair that usually falls on your face and puff it a little, if you wish to. Then pin the rest of your hair, almost near your neck.

Bow bun: Yes, this is a bun but it’s quirky all the way! For this one, tie your hair into a very high ponytail. Instead of pulling your hair out completely, pull your hair into a medium-sized loop leaving a loose end. For the bow, divide the loop into equal halves. Put one hand through either sides of the loop and pin it up underneath with the other. Do this one side at a time. Wrap the loose end over the centre portion of the bow and pin it.
