It's the festive season and with so many things to do, you hardly find time to hit the salon and get the right makeup done. If you are one such busy woman, here are some quick fixes for make up gone wrong. Follow these tips by Aakriti Kochar, beauty and make-up expert, Oriflame India, and get ready to steal the show.
Chapped Lips: Chapped and dry lips can be a big put off and they don't even let the lipstick sit properly. You must exfoliate your lips, especially if they are dry. Use a mild scrub or make some yourself by mixing some brown sugar and honey. Rub the mixture for two-three minutes in circular motions and wash off.
Oily Skin: If your skin is oily and if you are dancing away in Navratri, there are chances that you might sweat and your makeup might start wearing off. Keep a matte finish compact with a powder puff handy. Dab it on the face when needed.
Dry and a dull face: If you have just returned from work and have to go out dancing immediately, fret not. The lipstick is here for your rescue! Use a nice bright shade of lipstick that won't bleed and add gloss to it. The combination will make you look radiant instantly.
Ungroomed eyebrows: This is one big problem every working woman faces. The eyebrows grow out and they are neither in shape nor thick enough to get them shaped. In such a situation let the humble eyebrow pencil be your friend. Use a brown eye pencil or a brown eye shadow with an angular brush to make your eyebrows look shaped and groomed.
Faded Lipstick: While you are eating out, drinking and having a lot of fun, your lipstick suffers the most. It usually fades away and all that is left is some trace of the colour in patches. Always apply a little foundation or compact on lips before applying the lip colour. It helps the lipstick stay longer.
Too much foundation: If you are not a pro at makeup, you are most likely to end up with too much foundation. So to avoid such a situation, gently dab a damp sponge on your face, especially under the eyes and lips, to blend in the foundation and remove the excess.
Creases around eyes and lips: Two-three hours after putting on make-up, it starts creasing around the eyes and lips. To correct this, use a damp sponge to hydrate the skin, followed by a powder puff to add some compact and give your skin a smoother look.
Eye shadow gone wrong: If you are trying to blend different colours or get a smokey look, you either get it right or you don't. And if you are in a hurry, you are most likely to go wrong. So if you aren't able to blend different colours properly, take a fluffy blending brush to soften the edges of the eye shadow. If there are strong lines, gently use your fingertips to soften the edges before using the fluffy brush.
Too much blush: Getting the blush right is the trickiest part of any make-up. If not done right you end up looking like an inexpensive doll with pink blush, and no one wants to look like that. To avoid this, move the brush in small circular motions without any colour to soften the blush, if it's too dry, use some damp sponge on the cheek area to hydrate and then after a few seconds, blend the blush for a smoother finish.
Clumpy mascara: Hail, the women who put mascara in one go and either not have any traces on the eyelid or stick the eyelashes together. To avoid clumping the mascara, use a clean mascara wand to remove the excess. Use a little wiggle movement with this brush, for non-water proof mascara you can slightly wet the brush to make it come off easily.
