There is an endless list of nourishing, nutritious essential oils but how do you know which one is the best for your hair type. Beauty expert Nandi Agarwal from Marvie Ann Beck Academy tells you which one you should use to make your hair beautiful.
Hair loss: Rich in vitamins D and E and minerals such as calcium and magnesium, almond oil acts as a natural moisturiser for your hair, preventing it from turning dry and brittle.
Thinning hair: Massaging the scalp with warm sesame oil can help promote blood circulation thereby, aiding hair growth. The essential fatty acids present in the oil help in rapid cell division of the hair cells, hence promoting hair growth.
Dry hair: This type of hair is very dull, tangles easily and is prone to split ends. The oil required for this purpose is the one that stimulates the sebaceous glands in the scalp to produce more oil. Use almond, jojoba oil if your hair is dry.
Oily hair: This type of hair looks greasy which is generally because of over production of sebum by the sebaceous glands. So the kind of oil that is required should be able to restore the sebaceous glands to normal. Apply jojoba oil if your hair is oily.
Dandruff: Essential oils can be very effective in minimising or halting this problem. The best essential oil for treating dandruff is tea-tree oil.
Split ends: Castor oil tackles split ends. The oil penetrates deep into the scalp and helps smoothen rough hair cuticles.
