Use tea tree oil: The antibacterial and antimicrobial properties of tea tree oil penetrate in the skin and disinfect the skin pores, preventing further outbreak. It also helps exfoliate and clear dust and grease from the skin. Mix few drops of this essential oil with a teaspoon of honey and apply it on the pimple. Keep it overnight and wash off in the morning.

OTC medicine: Cosmetic dermatologist Dr Shubha Dharmana suggests using derivatives of vitamin A such as adapaleneor benoyl peroxide. Clindamycin, an antibiotic may also be prescribed. For minor acne, tea tree oil products are better than over-the-counter medication.
