Sudden changes in the routines, fear of the disease, uncertainties, social isolation, being locked at home – all these can take a toll on anybody’s mental health. If you’re feeling tense, restless, irritated or anxious at this time, you’re not alone. Reports of increasing mental health issues among people have been reported from around the world. Several studies have documented a high prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and insomnia among COVID-19 patients, and health care workers. An online survey, conducted by citizen engagement platform LocalCircles, also reported 166 per cent increase in the number of Indians complaining of anxiety during the initial phase of the lockdown.
