Myth#1: Carbs Are Bad For You Not all carbs are the same. Carbohydrates that come from white bread, white rice, sugary sodas and other highly processed foods can contribute to weight gain and increase your risk for serious health problems. But carbs from whole, fiber-rich foods like whole grains, legumes, fruit, and vegetables may help reduce your risk chronic diseases.
Myth#2: Never Skip Breakfast Breakfast is not the most important meal of the day and it is not like you must have it ever day. You can skip this meal if you’re not hungry in the morning, and move right into lunch. Plus, the first meal of the day doesn’t need to be consumed early or include certain types of foods.
Myth#4: Avoid Gluten Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, barley and certain other grains. Gluten intolerance is the body's inability to digest or break down this protein. It can cause problems with your digestive system. But most people (about 90 percent) are gluten tolerant. If you’re not suffering from celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, you can have foods with gluten, such as whole grains.
Myth#5: Green Juice Is a Healthy Drink Juicing strips the fiber away from the fruits or vegetables, making it a more concentrated source of sugar, which means a higher glycemic load. Therefore, drinking juice can raise your blood sugar. It’s always better to consume whole fruits and vegetables.
