You can never be reckless on the roads more so if you are with your toddler. It is imperative that you follow certain safety rules on roads when you are with your child. To teach your child road-safety rules it is important that you first follow the same. Since children learn from your behaviour it is important you behave like a responsible citizen on roads. This will not only help you to avert accidents but make your child grow into a responsible citizen too. Here are some road safety rules that you need to follow when you are with your kids:

  • Always make sure that you make your child wear the seat belt during a car travel without fail.
  • Never make your child sit in the front seat of your car.
  • Using a car seat is compulsory in the west but not in India, still, install a car seat for children below three years of age and always make her sit at the back.
  • Never drive the car with your toddler in the lap.
  • Even if your child is sleeping don't keep her in the back seat without making her wear the seat belt. A sudden break could lead to a fall and can be fatal for your child.
  • Never let your child put her head, hand out of the window and always use the child lock.
  • While travelling in a two-wheeler make sure your child is wearing a helmet. Don't pile up the entire family on a two-wheeler which is very common for Indian families.
  • While driving gives your undivided attention to the roads and doesn't use a mobile phone or talk incessantly with your child.
  • If you are walking on the roads makes sure you always hold one hand of your toddler.
  • Teach your child road safety rules so that she starts to behave appropriately on the roads.
