As a first time mommy, I had many crucial decisions to make, and one of them was zeroing on the right baby lotion to moisturise my baby's skin. First things first, baby's do not really need a baby lotion, or other toiletries, for the first two months, but my baby was a winter baby, with extremely dry skin and oil would often leave her skin feeling greasy, so I started looking out for a good brand of baby lotion.
My criteria for baby lotions is simple:
1. Should be hydrating (water based)
2. Should be paraben-free
3. Should be fragrance-free
4. Should blend in without making the skin greasy -- aim for soft, not oily
The first lotion I tried
Mothercare All We Know Baby Lotion. I wasn't disappointedbut was too happy either. While the lotion meets the first three criteria (though it does have a very light and sweet smell), it takes a lot of time to blend in. Also, you need to use a lot of lotion to actually feel the difference and also it is a wee bit greasy. However, since my baby's skin is dry and I used it during winter, it did okay. Though I did not continue using this for long as I had to re-apply the lotion two-three times a day.

After the Mothercare baby lotion, I was looking for a more non-greasy baby lotion and tried Chicco Baby Moments Body Lotion, since I was already using the Chicco Baby Moments soap. This body lotion is not much different from the Mothercare one, so I couldn't settle for this one either.

Finally, I tried Sebamed baby lotion and I knew I had a clear winner. It fits well in all my criteria. The best part is you need very little amount of the lotion as it spreads beautifully and blends with the skin quickly. It definitely leaves the skin softer, without making it feel greasy. Though it is costlier than its counterparts, it is worth the money. I have been using this lotion for my baby since over a year and I am very satisfied with it.

Verdict
I am extremely happy with the Sebamed lotion and will continue using it. The other two aren't really bad and I may use them only if I can't get Sebamed.
