If you are a DIY mom, then you know that cardboard boxes are your best friend. There's so much fun you can do with the cardboard boxes, and your kids love playing in them. Even a plain cardboard box that your child can fit in is so much fun for them. With a few cardboard boxes, your furniture and other titbits you can easily transform your house into a playground for your child that will have her happy and excited. And a happy child means a happy momma! You need very few things and a lot of creativity to transform your house into a playground using DIY methods, so let's get started.
Slides with mattresses: A lot of us have those spare mattresses that we stock for when guests come visiting. Well, I have a few, and luckily I have the single bed mattresses that are perfect to use as slides. If you have a staircase in your house, even better! Simply prop the mattress at the stair at an angle that you child can slide on. Put a lot of pillows and cushions around so that she doesn't get hurt and you are set! My daughter LOVES going up and down these 'slides'. You can also prop the mattress against a piece of furniture like the sofa. Of course, be with your child at all times that she uses this slide.
A secret fort: I made this recently and my daughter LOVED it. Children like to crawl into spaces that can hide them, and that is why blanket forts are such a toddler thing. What I did was tie the two ends of a huge bedsheet on the headboard and other tow ends here and there on the handle of my cupboard and the doorknob. Making sure that the bedsheet was stretched, I made a lovely 'fort' that my child could crawl into and play. I have to confess that I kind of liked it too.
Train with chairs: This a lot of children make on their own. All you have to do is line up the chair one behind the other and voila! Your train is ready. To make it even more interesting, you can cover it with a blanket.
Pillow maze: This my daughter actually 'invented' which I simply upgraded a little. She would place some pillows at random and jump from one to another. I took it to the next level and took all the pillows in my house (we have a LOT) and made a sort of maze for her to go in and sort.
