Studies suggest that when in their 20s, kids become their parents best friends. But it isn t always true. Many-a-times parents do not understand and do not provide a logical argument to their kids. Maybe this is the reason why kids distance themselves from their parents and start hiding their feelings and emotions. Following the tradition and culture of India, the society expects the girls to get married in their early 20s. And daughters, with parents like these who completely fail to realise what their daughters want, have no option but to comply their demands. Here are 10 reasons why Indian girls are shit scared to tell their parents openly that they don't want to get married in their 20s.

  1. Parents usually threaten them to keep them locked up in the house if they refuse to marry.
  2. Parents also threaten them that they will take away privileges like their mobile phone or laptop.
  3. Parents emotionally blackmail their daughters by giving up food just so that their daughters are convinced to marry someone of their choice. gif kk
  4. They start making their daughters swear on their dying grandparents that they must get married.
  5. If not grandparents, they will use any other close acquaintance who is on his death bed to make them promise that they will get married.
  6. They start making their daughter feel guilty for every time someone taunts them about her marriage.
  7. The girls are scared to let them know because of the fear that her parents will stop letting her go to college.
  8. When nothing else works, emotional blackmail plays an important role there as the parents start to emotionally blackmail their daughters.
  9. Some parents also go to the extent of threatening their daughters that they will abandon her if she doesn t listen to them.
  10. The last and the worst thing that parents do is to tell them that they will commit suicide if their daughters do not get married.
