How the way you use your phone changes after having a baby

As a parent, you won't be disgusted by the idea of reading a research paper about poop!

How the way you use your phone changes after having a baby

I used to laugh at people when they used to say that having a baby completely changes your life. I understood that becoming a parent was a major change in your life, but the idea of the baby taking over every aspect of your life was a little too much for me to accept. This was about 4 years ago. Now, with a toddler, I feel the need to apologise to every person who warned me and I did not pay heed to. having a baby really changes your life. The event of giving birth to my daughter was like the arrival of Jesus in my life. The timeline of my life is divided into BB (before baby) or AB (after baby). Little did I know something as mundane as whether I simply take a shower or also wash my hair will depend on how well-fed my baby is, when was the last time she napped, for how long, what are the chances of her noticing that mumma has been missing for more than 10 minutes, and other permutations and combinations. Damn it, even the way I use my phone has undergone a major change! How, you ask, here's a list.

  • A very 'colourful' life: All you girls who browse fashion sites and ezines to know the latest in colours and trends, I was one of you. Now the only colours I search for is the shade of my baby's poop and what does it mean. The idea of looking at a shade card for poop and reading research papers of detailed studies on poop colour and what it means does not disgust me anymore.
  • Baby apps only: I didn't even realise when baby apps took over all my shopping, news and even personal track recording apps. And I don't even miss them. I have moulded my life around relying on these apps who promise to help me understand my child better, and I am dedicated to that.
  • No storage left in the phone: I would have gone on installing apps after baby apps, had I not run out of storage space, thanks to all the cute pictures I take of my baby. What do you mean that it is useless to click 50 pictures of my baby in the same pose! Thanks to my baby, not I can use the data cable for connecting my phone to my laptop.
  • Pinterest is my buddy: That app/ website that was for all the DIY freaks, Pinterest is not my haven! It gives me ideas (that I never implement) on month-by-month pictures of babies, cute outfit ideas, and whatnot. I can literally spend hours browsing though cot-mobiles even though my baby doesn't have a cot!
  • I use it only during breastfeeding: The best mobile phone detox is having a baby. The baby takes up so much of my time that the only time I get to use my phone is when breastfeeding. So no matter how much you say that you can't live without your phone, one baby and you will get your priorities straight.
