A one year old’s mind needs to be channelised towards learning through toys that keep them entertained and teach them a thing or two while at it. Here's a list of educational toys your one year old must have.
Shape sorter: Sorting shapes and trying to insert them in slots is fun. Your kid will enjoy the trial and error and it will keep them busy till they get it right. It also encourages hand and eye co-ordination.
Nesting or stacking up toys: Have you watched a toddler trying to place one thing over the other or making a mountain of it? You can choose colourful blocks that attract your toddler's eyes and these can be piled up and then knocked down and placed in different ways again. The game enhances a child's motor skills and imagination.
Musical instruments: They can be irritating and noisy but if you are ready to bear with that, musical instruments are also great learning toys. You can choose a set of several musical instruments or just one. Pushing buttons, hitting the drums with sticks will all teach your toddler about various sounds.
Scribble pad: Before they start scribbling on the walls with any colour, pen or pencil they find, get them a scribble pad or canvas. Children love to hold the pen and write even if for adults it's just scribbling. Don't jump to A, B Cs. Let your toddler scribble or make things according to their imagination.
Rolling or push toys: Needless to say these toys encourage walking and crawling. A crawling snail or turtle that can be dragged around or a pushing toy that ensures they can take their first steps without falling are great buys.
