My baby is just three months old and I have noticed some diaper rashes in her private area. I just wanted to know should I shift from diapers to cloth nappies to limit the rash breakouts.
It would be ideal if you can train your baby to be off diapers from a very early age. Since this is not possible always so mothers have to resort to the use of diapers. It is absolutely fine to use cloth nappies for your baby. But the only flip side would be that you really have to get a clean cloth nappy which has no remnants of dirt or detergent in it. Also cloth diapers have to be changed everytime your baby urinates. So you really need to be ready with a stock full of them and would have piles of washing to do at the end of the day. It would be more work but will be soothing to your baby's privates and give your baby enough air passage too. You would be notified of poop or pee as soon as it happens unlike the diapers where the urine or excreta can go unnoticed for hours together.
If it's only rashes you want to tackle you can do the same using diapers too. Just offer a change every three hours so that it doesn't leave your baby with those painful red patches. Meanwhile use a diaper rash cream to treat your baby's rashes. Also read ways to deal with nappy rashes in baby.
